Maybe this time we’ll get it right. Maybe this time he’ll stay.
Or perhaps my heart is about to be irrevocably shattered.
One way or another, our lives are about to change.
Only time will tell if it’s for better or worse, but one thing is certain…
Alejandro is a force to be reckoned with…maybe even best to be avoided.
But when it comes to matters of the heart, sometimes there’s no reasoning.
Sometimes…it’s pure instinct.

I don’t know where the future will lead us, if we’ll even make it for the long haul. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from my past, though, it’s to take each moment and savor it.
Live in it. Breathe it in.

Because you never know when it will all end.

I wish the author all happiness and love!

Mami is the conclusion to the journey Julie started in Papi. The journey of self discovery continues with the love that is Julie & Alejandro finding a way to be together when possible & learning that love can heal what is broken inside. This beautifully written story by J.C. Valentine is the conclusion she dreamed of to a true story she experienced herself. While Julie & Alejandro's lives are changed by the challenges of working out a long distant relationship, they're lives are further changed by an added surprise. Though life isn't perfect, Julie learns to live with the happiness she has found in this new life rather than sit around & pine over what could be. This book is meant for mature readers.

Title:Mami
Author: J.C. Valentine

5 amazing stars

When i hear that J.C. Valentine was going to write her autobiography, i knew i had to read it. I'm always curious to know people's life story, no matter what it is because it always shapes you (your past) to be the person you will be in the future. In Papi, my heart broke at her pain and then i rejoiced when she found love once again. With Mami, i got my answers from the questions i had when Papi ended.

4 breath taking dreams

I wanted to cheer for Julie and Alejandro to make it - but like Julie, more questions arose when he'd go quiet or they'd go weeks without seeing each other. Knowing what i do after reading J.C. Valentine's author note at the end of the book, i wonder how much of Mami is real? Will there be another book chronicling this author's journey? I still have a few more questions, but in the end, this journey was incredible and uplifting in the sense that even when things don't work out how you expected, there's always something waiting for you on the other side, and it took a lot of courage for this author to write her journey for all to see.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Mami is the follow up to Papi. You must read that book to fully know what is going on in Papi.

Life has thrown Julie some curve balls. None though as sexy and exciting as Alejandro. Julie thought she would never see him again but life has other plans for these two. Maybe this time he will stay and all of Julie's dreams can come true but there is always the chance he could shatter her heart into a million pieces. No doubt their lives are about to change in huge ways and only time will tell if it's for better or worse. Alejandro is a force to be reckoned with , maybe even avoided. But with matters of the heart there is no reasoning and sometimes it's just pure instinct. Taking a chance always has it's risks but the rewards can only make it worthwhile.....she hopes.

This book takes right off where Papi left off. Julie is excited about the prospect of a life with Alejandro and still so uncertain at the same time. After all he did disappear there for a while. Life is still crazy as ever for her and her kids. The ex is still around and a little to comfortable in Julies home for Julies liking. And there is a huge surprise. I'm glad we got to see what happens to these characters but when I got to the very end my heart broke for J.C. Valentine. But the more I thought about it the more I drew the conclusion that it would be better in life to experience some things than to never have taken the chance and felt the feeling that are felt. I also think all anyone ever wants in life is the best from life and to be loved like your the only woman on earth for the man who loves you back. It's really a beautiful story of discovery and taking charge of ones own life.

J.C. Valentine, thank you so much for sharing this story with your readers. I so hope that it inspires people to live and love like there is no tomorrow and to take some chances they never thought they would.

In Mami, we meet up with Julie and Alejandro from JC Valentine's Papi. After texting back and forth for a bit, these two finally meet up and realize that one night is just not enough so they decide that a long distance relationship is what they are going for. Things go smoothly for awhile, then life's little surprises start pop up and they begin to wonder if they've bit of more than they can chew.
When I read the first book in this series I wasn't sure how I felt about these two being together. I wasn't sure Alejandro was right for Julie. I mean I felt the chemistry between them but not necessarily love even though they proclaimed those feelings to each other. Well, after reading Mami I'm still not convinced it was Love, maybe just hot steamy lust, but not love. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the story, because I did. I guess I was looking for that connection between them beyond the bedroom and I didn't feel that with these two. In spite of that, I did enjoy the storyline and actually loved the characters even if I didn't feel a love connection between them. I gave it 3.5 stars.

This is another amazing book by J.C. Valentine. I loved this short series. It was beautifully written. Julie is such a strong woman. It's courageous to be able to find the strength to pick up the pieces after a break up. Then to start over is sometimes overwhelming. Finally, to be able to open yourself up to someone else is amazing. I'm inspired. Alejandro is not perfect, but does seem to come at the right time. He helps to fill in the missing pieces to make Julie whole again. This book/story is well worth the read. I received an ARC for a voluntary read/review.

This a was a sweet sequel to the first book. You can relate to the emotions being expressed by the characters, and really feel right along with them. It's angsty and hopeful. It's everything you need for a quick sweet read that is realistic, and not over the top or aggressive. I enjoyed the story, and I can think of quite a few people that I plan to refer this story to. JC Valentine can really write a story that draws you in.

description

I have to say, I wanted this book to be more than just a wishful thinking kind of book. With the realism portrayed in Papi, what I know was based on the author's own experiences (which this one also was to a degree), I wanted for the characters and for the author for this to be the way it all turned out in the end.

I am a sucker for a real life happy ending even more than I am in books.

The way this entire story comes together (from Papi, which you must read first, to this one), it was thoroughly engaging, very real and it pulled at me. I liked it start to finish because even though some of the events that took place here may not have been true to her life like maybe they were in the first one, I’m sure they’re true in someone else’s. Even the way she had to handle her ex, keep the relationship because of the kids they shared it was all just so real.

The length of the book itself made it a quick read, but the way it was written and the care the author took in making it so realistic even being in a fictional book is what made it impossible to put down.

I can’t say enough good things about this author. She opened herself up with the first story, continued it with this one and in turn delivered for this particular reader, another winner! And one I’m thankful that I was able to read before official release.

Fantastic Work!

My thanks to the author and all others involved in letting me read this before release.

Mami is the continuation of the story of Julie and Alejandro and picks up where Papi ended with Alejandro outside her house.

Julie is taking a chance on her long distance romance after having a lifetime of making do with what she had. She is now finalising her divorce from her ex and pushing herself forward to let fate decide for her future with Alejandro. When a surprise incident happens it seems that fate is favouring their relationship.

I loved Papi and thought it was very sexy and atmospheric read especially with Alejandro and his sexy accent. This one though it seemed more about Julie and her ex and a lot of the dialogue was about her relationship with him and in parts seemed as if she was gloating at getting back at him. I would have much preferred more dialogue between Julie and Alejandro. He was also missing for the most part of the storyline. There were important moments that happened off page such as Alejandro’s first time in her house and then meeting the children. On the other hand the more mundane everyday things were explained in minute detail.

I liked that the story portrayed Julie’s uncertainty about her future with Alejandro and her temptation to do things she didn’t want to do but for the sake of the kids.

I loved Alejandro and would have loved to have found out more about his background and his life back home. Then again he wouldn’t be the sexy stranger that I found all the more enticing I guess.

There was a nice little epilogue at the ending that tied everything up so I was glad we didn’t have to wait for another novella to see how it panned out. Three and a half stars.

After reading Papi, which is based on a true story, I am really pleased that the author gave us the opportunity to explore further. Mami picks up right where Papi left off.

After a fairly long and silent absence, Alejandro turns up on Julie's doorstep. She is happy that he has returned but there is some apprehension about how to react.

The connection is instant and after the first awkard few minutes, they show how much they'd missed each other. The chemistry is hotter than ever and they are back in their comfort zone. Julie is waiting for some news which involves Alejandro and he is not unhappy about the situation. He spends more time away with his job but they have regular communications.

It's fairly obvious that Julie's children come first and any firm commitment is not an option at this stage. Their journey is quite an eye opener in the way that they make the relationship work.

It's a touching story where Alejandro helps Julie to rediscover herself after going through a very tough time. She is brave and strong. She doesn't know how their story will end but she takes comfort in their present happiness. Living in the moment and having faith. As it's a true story and from what is divulged after the end of this story, I wish Julie all the very best and the happiness that she truly deserves. This story will appeal to adult readers and I would advise to read the first book to get a true picture of this journey.

I received a complimentary eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

This is the continuation after Papi and yes you have to read Papi to know what is going on in this one. It is worth the read too because this story is one that most can relate to, it is filled with betrayal, hurt, love, hate and trying to move on to a better future for Julie and her kids.
Julie was left wondering why Alejandro left and wasn't answering her text or calls and then he shows up at her house. Does she trust him to not hurt her again? Why did he come back and is he here to stay?
Alejandro works in construction and his jobs has him moving around a lot. He fell hard for Julie and didn't want to leave her but had to see her when he came back through her hometown. Can he keep this relationship up only seeing her once in a while when he can? Will it be enough for them both?
Can Julie and Alejandro make this relationship work or will she forever have her heart broken? Will Alejandro change jobs to be closer to Julie to make it work?
This is a great story and you can tell how much Julie and Alejandro love each other because you can feel it in their text messages. I am loving this series and can't wait for the next one to see how it ends.

This story starts right where Papi ended and we have the continuation of Julie and Alejandro’s romance. Despite the difficulties they confront, they continue their relationship defying all obstacles and making it work as best they can.
I loved how she gives herself completely into the relationship and her feelings for Alejandro, but I definitely had issues with their time apart and his silences in between their time together. I felt she might have been too trusting with him, but, on the other hand, it’s a fictionalization of true events and I think some things might have been kept private which is completely understandable.
As with the previous installment, the story is very real and raw. IMO, the author manages to make you feel everything Julie goes through as if it was you in her shoes. The love, hope and despair are all there for us to experience and Ms. Valentine really lays it out for the reader to feel them.
I read these novellas back to back and couldn’t put them down until the very end of the story.

I would recommend that you read Papi first, if not you might be a little lost.

Julie had been through so much. She was a author and a single mother. She had suffered a bad divorce and now here she is in love with a man that had started as a one night stand. As you know in book one she was waiting to find out if she was pregnant as well. Yeah, she had a lot on her plate.

I loved how this book started with Alejandro standing on her lawn. I would of been so mad if a man that had stopped contacted me just showed up but there was so much chemistry between these two.

I love how Julie used everything in her power to aggravate her ex. Now there is no way I would have allow my ex come over and snoop in my home and eat my food. Yeah, we would of been having some words. Julie truly wanted what was best for her kids.

As reading the book you will get to see how Julie and Alejandro’s love will grow. It is deep and beautiful. I truly loved reading this story and just loved the ending.

Julie, you are one lucky woman!

I love that this love story is based on a true story. A story of loss, loneliness, and love. I can only imagine how hard it is to put yourself out there for your readers. Just to let you know you are a very strong and inspiring woman. I love how you dive into any situation and go with it. As far as Alejandro, I hope he's around more often. I hope he's everything and more for you and your family.
Thank you for an amazingly hot story. I thoroughly enjoyed both Papi and Mami.

Oh yeah, I'm still curious. Did you ever find your blue panties?

Mami is not a standalone. You definitely need to read Papi first. Alejandro left suddenly and has gone silent. Julie is left broken and didn’t realize how much of her heart he took until he was gone. She’s also worried because Alejandro may have left her with more than just the memory of what they shared.

Alejandro is somewhat back. He appears as suddenly as he disappeared. Julie must decide how much of her life she will let go and give to Alejandro. Their relationship is still not quite defined as it’s a long distance one at best.

Her soon to be ex isn’t helping matters. Now that he knows there’s another man, he’s suddenly concerned about Julie.

The steamy scenes are a part of Mami so that’s a plus. Keep in mind this is a true story so the reality of life and all its hardships are evident in Mami. After reading this little series, I feel closer to the author and realize just how human her stories are.

Would have loved to have Alejandro's p.o.v. to see in his mind what he really was thinking/doing when she was gone. Julie had a lot of doubting when her man was a way and just living on texts hack and forth and then her ex husband is acting more strangely and showing his true-ish colors.
I'm not a fan of older women with younger men romance, I wanted to read this based on it being based on a true story, thankfully there wasn't really any mention about age or the difference between the age.
I hope I can find a love like that if I have to go through the same thing., but I just wouldn't be able to continue on with only a few texts or even none at all without assuming something is not right.

Aye Papi! Aye Mami!

Mami is the follow up book to Papi. It is not a stand alone, so you should read Papi first.

This was a really good sequel to Papi! I loved the fact that both of these novellas were based on a true story. Alejandro aka "Papi" was super hot! I mean, what woman doesn't want their very own Latin lover? I know I do! If you are looking for a couple of fun, quick, and hot reads, look no further!

Sigh. I’m so glad J.C. Valentine continued this story. I love that this is based on a true story but I don’t know what is real and what she altered. Alejandro swept into Julie’s life then disappeared. He reappears and the sparks and chemistry is still there along with a devotion and trust that Julie never experienced before. But how do you have a long distance relationship? I was captivated with how they navigated these waters and worked to build something beautiful for both of them while integrating her children. Then she adds a beautiful epilogue. What a treasure to get to experience this romantic journey. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Continuing on from the story in Papi, we are reunited with Alejandro, as is Julie and follow them through to a focal part of their lives and beyond.

This book was so readable, that I sat and read it and Papi together in one session.

You felt Julies palpable excitement every time she heard from her lover, and their moments together were explosive and passionate. In fact, from the opening page you can feel how swept away she is by this love affair, by the fact that someone makes her rediscover her passion and want more for herself. On the flip side though, you feel her despair when Alejandro is silent or missing, you can almost hear her self worth drop off the page. And when you add to that, her ex still creeping and sniffing around (after he had an affair and left), I was almost screaming at her not to be taken in by him again.

Although life doesn't come with a big neat bow, this story did tie up nicely at the end. Whilst there were times I wondered about Alejandro's honesty and life away from Julie, I was glad that she refound herself through her passionate affair. There were a lot of unanswered questions, such as how the relationship could prevail if he continued to live elsewhere, how much time he now spent with her after the relationship moved on a level (don't want to say how or why because I hate spoilers) but I can live with the mystery and make up my own answers.

As you can see this book is based on a true story and I must admit to being sad that the real life love affair is no longer. I truly hope that she finds someone who appreciates her. In the least, I'm glad she found someone to help refind her sparkle after the ending of her marriage.

First of all you definitely have to read Papi before this one. I loved Papi and I just knew I would love Mami. Alejandro is so flipping HOT! Mami starts off where Papi left off. Alejandro is standing in Julie's front yard waiting for a kiss. YUM! The whole book I kept waiting for the ball to drop because Alejandro seems too perfect to be true. He ended up being absolutely perfect. Julie and Alejandro are the perfect match. I'm a big fan of J.C. Valentine. You won't be disappointed!!

Okay so I was intrigued by the title...
1) it's based on a true story of the author which is mainly why I was interested.
2) then you find out that the sequel is based on what she wanted to happen** 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️
3) the Spanish is horrible - no Hispanic person uses mami and papi that much in a dialogue! Come on!
4) I didn't hate it so I gave it at 3.5 --- I'm being generous.
